Job Description and Key Responsibilities:
The Manager of Ferry Operations will be responsible for leading staff both shoreside and onboard, overseeing shore support facilities, and carrying out maintenance of buildings, vessels, equipment, and supplies. Duties also include analysing and recommending operational budgets, negotiating maintenance and repair contracts with government and private suppliers, planning and scheduling staff for vessel operations, and managing overtime according to seasonal traffic variations.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Practical knowledge of ferry vessel operation and maintenance. Demonstrated ability to communicate, apply, and enforce NCDOT Ferry Division policies in safety, accounting, operations, regulations, and management. Experience in planning, organizing, delegating, and creating schedules and budgets. U.S. Coast Guard Ordinary Seaman credential within 90 days of hire. Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC). Minimum educational level of an associate degree with 4 years of relevant experience, or high school diploma/GED with 6 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Details:
The position involves a schedule of 7 consecutive days of activity followed by 7 days off. Dormitory accommodation is provided during work shifts.
