Responsibilities
- According to STCW, typical First Officer responsibilities include: supervision of deck operations, responsibility for navigation and watchkeeping, management of loading and unloading, maintenance of safety equipment, and support to the Captain in all vessel operations
- On PSV DP2 vessels, specific additional responsibilities include: operation of the dynamic positioning (DP) system during manoeuvres near platforms, coordination of supplies to offshore installations, and supervision of stability and safety during critical operations
