According to the applied rank (Captain, First Officer, Deckhand/Cook, Deckhand). According to STCW, typical functions include: for Captain, overall responsibility for safety and navigation; for First Officer, supervision of deck operations; for Deckhand, maintenance duties, watchkeeping and manoeuvres.
