Bosun – MV Ocean Explorer – Worldwide Itinerary

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Bosun to join the crew of the MV Ocean Explorer, a 120-metre research vessel operated by Global Marine Services. This is a permanent contract position with an immediate start date, offering a competitive salary of €3,500 per month, plus benefits including accommodation and meals on board. The vessel operates on a worldwide itinerary, with upcoming voyages planned in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading deck operations and ensuring the safety and maintenance of the vessel.

Requirements

• Valid STCW certification, including Basic Safety Training and Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Bosun or in a similar deck leadership role on vessels over 80 metres.
• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
• Valid seafarer medical certificate (ENG1 or equivalent).
• Experience with crane operations and cargo handling.
• Ability to work in a team and supervise deckhands effectively.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all deck operations, including mooring, anchoring, and cargo handling.
• Maintain and inspect deck equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
• Train and supervise deckhands in daily tasks and emergency procedures.
• Assist the Deck Officer with navigation and watchkeeping duties as required.
• Ensure cleanliness and order on the deck and in storage areas.
• Participate in safety drills and emergency response activities.

Contract Details

This is a permanent contract with a start date of 15 October 2023. The salary is €3,500 per month, paid in Euros. The contract includes a 4-month on/2-month off rotation schedule. Applications must be submitted by 30 September 2023.
