Bosun – MV Ocean Explorer – Worldwide

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Bosun to join the crew of the MV Ocean Explorer, a research vessel operating on a worldwide itinerary. This is a permanent contract position with an immediate start date. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading deck operations, maintaining safety standards, and supervising deckhands.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Bosun or in a similar deck leadership role.
• Valid STCW certification (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers).
• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment and adapt to varying sea conditions.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all deck operations, including maintenance, cleaning, and cargo handling.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and conduct regular safety drills.
• Supervise and train deckhands, assigning tasks and monitoring performance.
• Assist the Deck Officer with navigation and watchkeeping duties as required.
• Maintain inventory of deck supplies and equipment.

Contract Details

• Salary: €3,500 per month, paid in Euros.
• Contract Type: Permanent, with a 4-month on/2-month off rotation.
• Start Date: Immediate, with applications accepted until 15 October 2023.
• Work Location: Worldwide itinerary, including ports in Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
