Responsibilities

  • According to STCW, typical functions of the 2nd Engineer Officer include supervision of the engine department under the direction of the Chief Engineer, maintenance of propulsion and auxiliary systems, and management of the control room. The 3rd Engineer Officer typically supports maintenance operations, equipment monitoring, and tasks assigned by superiors.
  • Operation and maintenance of dynamic positioning (DP) class 3 systems
  • Compliance with safety protocols in underwater operations
