Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Bosun to join the crew of the MV Ocean Explorer, a research vessel operating on a worldwide itinerary. This is a permanent contract position with an immediate start date. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading deck operations, maintaining safety standards, and supervising deckhands.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Bosun or in a similar deck leadership role.
- Valid STCW certification (including basic safety training).
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
- Ability to work in a team and adapt to varying sea conditions.
- Experience with research vessel operations is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all deck activities, including mooring, anchoring, and cargo handling.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and conduct regular drills.
- Maintain deck equipment and report any issues to the Deck Officer.
- Supervise and train deckhands as required.
- Assist with navigation and watchkeeping duties when needed.
Contract Details

Start Date: Immediate
Salary: €3,500 per month
Itinerary: Worldwide, with ports of call including Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
