Bosun – MV Ocean Explorer – Worldwide

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Bosun to join the crew of the MV Ocean Explorer, a research vessel operating globally. This is a permanent contract position with an immediate start date. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading deck operations, maintaining safety standards, and supervising deckhands. The role involves worldwide travel, with itineraries including the Arctic, Antarctic, and tropical regions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Bosun or similar role on vessels over 50 metres.
  • Valid STCW certification (including Basic Safety Training).
  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
  • Experience with crane operations and cargo handling.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Valid seafarer medical certificate (ENG1 or equivalent).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee deck maintenance and repairs.
  • Supervise deckhands and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
  • Manage mooring and anchoring operations.
  • Assist with scientific equipment deployment as required.
  • Maintain inventory of deck supplies and tools.

Contract Details

Contract Type: Permanent
Start Date: Immediate
Salary: €4,500 per month, plus benefits (accommodation and meals provided on board)
Location: Worldwide (based on vessel itinerary)
