Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Bosun to join the crew of the MV Ocean Explorer, a 120-metre research vessel. This is a permanent contract position with an immediate start date. The vessel operates on a worldwide itinerary, including the Arctic and Antarctic regions, with rotations of 4 months on/2 months off. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading deck operations and maintenance under the supervision of the Chief Officer.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Bosun or similar role on vessels over 80 metres.
- Valid STCW certification (including Basic Safety Training).
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
- Experience with crane operations and cargo handling.
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
- Medical fitness certificate valid for 12 months.
Responsibilities
- Supervise deckhands and coordinate daily deck activities.
- Maintain deck equipment, including ropes, winches, and safety gear.
- Assist with mooring and anchoring operations.
- Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Support scientific operations as required.
Salary and Benefits
Salary: €4,500 per month, paid in Euros. Benefits include accommodation, meals, medical insurance, and flight allowances for rotations.
