Bosun – MV Ocean Explorer – Worldwide Itinerary

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Bosun to join the crew of the MV Ocean Explorer, a research vessel operating on a worldwide itinerary. This is a permanent contract position with an immediate start date. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading deck operations and ensuring the safety and maintenance of the vessel.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Bosun or in a similar deck leadership role.
  • Valid STCW certification (including basic safety training).
  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
  • Ability to work in a team and adapt to varying sea conditions.
  • Experience with research vessel operations is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise deckhands and coordinate daily deck activities.
  • Oversee maintenance of deck equipment and safety gear.
  • Assist with mooring, anchoring, and cargo operations.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations.
  • Support scientific missions and equipment handling as needed.

Contract Details

  • Salary: €3,500 per month, paid in Euros.
  • Contract Type: Permanent, with a 6-month probation period.
  • Start Date: Immediate (applications close on 15 July 2024).
  • Location: Worldwide itinerary, with ports of call including Southampton, Singapore, and Sydney.
  • Accommodation and meals provided on board.
