Description of the position and key functions: The job offer is for a Chief Engineer on board a non-propelled barge used for cable laying and burial in Taiwan. The Chief Engineer will be in charge of the operation and maintenance of all mechanical, hydraulic, and engine systems on board, ensuring the proper functioning of the vessel. Main responsibilities: Supervising the maintenance and minor repairs of engines, hydraulic systems, and vessel systems. Leading a team of engineers on board to ensure efficient operation during cable laying and burial activities. Troubleshooting technical issues to minimize downtime. Ensuring compliance with safety and operation standards. Requirements and qualifications: Certificates: STCW Basic Safety Training + STCW Seafarer Medical Certificate. Proven experience in maritime environments, especially with hydraulic systems and engines. Preferably previous experience in offshore cable laying projects. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a rotational environment. Additional details: Rotation: 5 weeks on board, 5 weeks off (alternatives may be discussed). Start date: Approximately mid to late April.
