Deckhand – Bridgemans Services Group – Howe Sound

Position Overview

Bridgemans Services Group (Bridgemans Crew Management Ltd.) is a global provider of workforce floatels and marine services. BSG customises services to the exact needs and locations of clients, ensuring solutions meet precise specifications, including logistics, crew transfers, housekeeping, catering, and the fulfilment of all HSE requirements.

This opportunity is for a Deckhand on a passenger transfer vessel. Main duties relate to the safe transfer of personnel and emergency response as required. Ensure the safety of life, the vessel, and the prevention of marine pollution while working within the established health and safety guidelines, policies, and procedures of the Company.

Key Responsibilities

• Lookout duties as assigned by vessel Master/Operator.
• Safety and security rounds as assigned.
• Safety of passengers during embarking, disembarking, and when underway.
• Verifying that all crew and passengers have all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Assisting in loading/unloading equipment/cargo to and from the vessel both onshore and offshore.
• Perform passenger safety briefings.
• Monitor transfer of client cargo and record as required.
• Complete passenger counts and report to Master.
• Operate crane and perform cargo handling (Rigger/Banksman) if certified, as required.
• Deck duties as directed by Master/vessel operator, completed safety checks, engine checks, vessel husbandry, vessel interior, and exterior cleaning, and sanitation.

Qualifications

• Relevant marine experience preferred.
• MED-DVS (Marine Emergency Duties training programme for Canadian seafarers working on domestic vessels).
• Radio Operators Certificate – Marine (ROC-M).
• Marine Basic or Advanced First Aid (MBFA) / (MAFA).
• Valid Seafarers Medical certificate (MMC).
• Excellent comprehension and command of the English language (written & verbal).
• Ability to clear a drug and alcohol test prior to hiring, in addition, to randomly with prior notice.
• Bridge Watch rating an asset.

Working Conditions

• Frequent standing, bending, twisting, and walking throughout the shift.
• Frequent situations where maintaining balance is essential.
• Frequent kneeling.
• Exposure to environmental elements including extreme weather conditions.
• Frequent lifting, pulling pushing up to 50lbs.
• Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and ramps.

Salary Range (Day): $378.00 to $420.00
