A Chief Engineer is required for an LPG carrier of 54,000 DWT, built in 2001, with joining port in China. The position is for immediate start. Under the STCW Convention, the Chief Engineer must hold a valid Certificate of Competency and be current in basic and advanced safety training. In addition, according to the International Safety Management (ISM) Code, the Chief Engineer is responsible for ensuring that the engine department complies with safety and pollution prevention procedures. Experience on gas carriers, although not mandatory, facilitates adaptation to the specific cargo handling systems for liquefied gas.
