Select Offshore is seeking a Second Officer to join drilling projects on jack-up rigs in EU waters. The position is open exclusively to EU nationals and requires extensive prior experience on this type of unit. The contract will be for a fixed term, with financial terms to be agreed based on the candidate's qualifications.
Under the STCW Convention, the Second Officer performs navigational watchkeeping duties, assists in passage planning and supervises safety and life-saving equipment. In the context of a drillship, they may also take on responsibilities for coordinating helicopter operations and managing safety during dynamic positioning manoeuvres.
Experience on jack-up rigs is essential, as these units operate in shallow waters and require specific stability and ballasting procedures. Knowledge of dynamic positioning systems and familiarity with SOLAS and MLC 2006 regulations regarding living and working conditions on board will be valued.
