Full description

A Chief Officer is required to join a general cargo ship, with joining expected in Setubal on 21-22 October 2026. The contract will run for 4 months, plus or minus 1 month, and the salary starts at 4,641 USD per month, negotiable depending on the candidate's experience. The Chief Officer takes charge of the deck department under the Master's authority, leads navigational watches and oversees cargo operations and general ship maintenance. Previous experience on general cargo vessels and immediate availability for the stated joining date will be valued. Under STCW II/2, the Chief Officer must hold the relevant certificate of competency and keep all mandatory safety courses up to date. In line with SOLAS and MLC 2006, the officer will assist the Master with ship safety, pollution prevention and onboard living and working conditions.
