Description of the role and key functions: We are looking for a Director of Ferry Operations for an administrative and supervisory role in the ground operations of a high-volume ferry terminal in Currituck. Responsibilities include directing ship and land staff, managing land support facilities, and overseeing building, ship, and equipment maintenance. You will also be responsible for analyzing operational budgets, planning and scheduling crews for ship operations, and ensuring compliance with safety standards of state and federal agencies.

Requirements and qualifications: Practical knowledge of ferry boat operation and maintenance. Experience in planning, organizing, delegating, and creating schedules and budgets. Experience in scheduling, communicating, and dispatching ferry crews. Knowledge of USCG regulations directly affecting ferry operations. U.S. Coast Guard Ordinary Seaman credential within 90 days of hire. Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).

Education and experience: Associate’s degree and 4 years of experience in administrative management or related field; or High school diploma/GED and 6 years of experience in administrative management or related field; or an equivalent combination or education and experience.
