Positions and Responsibilities
- 2nd Deck Officer (2Off): Assist the Chief Officer in navigation, watches and deck operations. On seismic vessels, may include supervision of data acquisition equipment.
- 2nd Engineer (2E): Assist the Chief Engineer in maintenance and operation of propulsion and auxiliary machinery. On seismic vessels, special attention to dynamic positioning systems and generators.
- 3rd Engineer (3E): Responsible for auxiliary systems, water treatment and preventive maintenance under supervision of the 2nd Engineer.
- Electro-Technical Officer (ETO): Maintenance of electrical, electronic and automation systems, crucial on seismic vessels with sensitive equipment.
- Bosun (BSN): Supervision of deck crew, maintenance of rigging and loading/unloading operations of seismic equipment.
- Able Seaman (AB): Maintenance duties, navigation watches and assistance in specialised deck operations.
- Filter Operator (FTR): Possibly specific role in maintenance of filtering or treatment systems onboard. Additional information: On seismic vessels, may refer to data processing technicians or maintenance of hydroacoustic equipment.
