Maritime Mechanic for Ferry Operations – NCDOT Ferry Division – International Location – Salary: £37,782 – £66,120

The NCDOT Ferry Division is seeking an experienced Maritime Mechanic to join their Operations team in Cedar Island/Ocracoke. The selected candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of diesel engines and other marine equipment, working on ferry vessels. Key duties include repair and overhaul of diesel engines, reduction gears, fire pumps, and hydraulic systems, as well as using machinery tools such as horizontal milling machines and lathes.

Requirements and qualifications: Operational knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulic and reduction systems. Ability to determine causes and repair procedures for faulty equipment. High school diploma or equivalent, and over 3 years of experience in repairing diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems, especially in the shipbuilding or repair industry.

Additional details: The work is carried out in rotating shifts of 7 working days per 7 days off, with an additional 10% pay for night shifts. There are possibilities of overnight travel to Ocracoke. Applications must be submitted before 28th February through the specified platform.
