Requirements

The candidate must have previous experience on chemical/oil tankers, with at least 24 months in the rank of Second Engineer. An English level of 85% or higher on the Marlins test is required. Nationality must be from Western/Eastern EU or candidates located in Europe.

According to the international STCW convention, the responsibilities of a Second Engineer on a chemical/oil tanker typically include supervising the maintenance and operation of the ship’s machinery, coordinating with the Chief Engineer to ensure the proper functioning of systems, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
