Responsibilities

  • Captain: According to STCW, typical functions include: total responsibility for navigation, safety, and vessel operations; compliance with international regulations; and crew management.
  • Chief Engineer: According to STCW, typical functions include: supervision of the engine department; maintenance of propulsion and auxiliary systems; management of fuel and lubricants; and ensuring compliance with SOLAS and MARPOL.
