Under the STCW Convention, the Master holds ultimate responsibility for the safety of the vessel, crew and cargo, as well as compliance with international regulations (SOLAS, MARPOL, MLC 2006). The role includes overseeing crude oil loading and discharging operations, managing navigation and leading the onboard team.
Candidates must hold a Master Mariner certificate and have previous experience on large tankers. Knowledge of safety and emergency procedures specific to VLCCs is highly valued.
