A Deck Cadet is required to join a Ro-Ro ship. The contract will last for 5 months plus 1 month of vacation, with a salary of 500 USD per month. Embarkation will be arranged through V.Ships, the crewing company.
Typical duties for a deck cadet include assisting deck officers during watches, participating in loading and unloading operations for vehicles and roll-on/roll-off cargo, and carrying out maintenance and cleaning of decks and equipment. The cadet will also assist during berthing and unberthing manoeuvres.
Under the STCW Convention, basic maritime safety training and the relevant certificates are required for these duties. Motivation to learn and teamwork skills will be valued.
