A Third Engineer is required to join an expedition vessel with a joining date in December. The contract will last for 6 months, plus or minus 1 month, and the salary offered is 3,800 to 4,000 USD per month. A good command of English and previous experience in the rank are required.
Under the STCW Convention, the Third Engineer is part of the engine department and stands watches under the supervision of the Chief Engineer. Duties include the operation and maintenance of propulsion systems, generators, pumps and auxiliary equipment, as well as completing engine logs and assisting with planned maintenance tasks. On an expedition vessel, they may additionally be involved in operating systems that support scientific or exploration activities.
