A Second Engineer is required to join an oil/chemical tanker of 5,000 to 19,000 DWT. Joining dates are end of October, 1-15 December, 15 January or 5 February. The contract duration is 2 months, plus or minus 1 month. The offered salary is 11,400 USD per month. Good English and experience in rank are required.
Under the STCW Convention, the Second Engineer is the officer responsible for the engine room watch and for supervising the maintenance of propulsion and auxiliary machinery, under the authority of the Chief Engineer. On chemical tankers, the Second Engineer must also hold specific training in safety and cargo operations in accordance with the STCW Convention and the International Code for the Construction and Equipment of Ships Carrying Dangerous Chemicals in Bulk (IBC Code).
