A Third Engineer is required to join a container ship. The contract will last for 6 months, plus or minus 1 month, with joining dates on 5 January or 20 February. The salary offered is 3,600 to 3,850 USD per month. Good English and experience in the rank are required. Under the STCW Convention, the Third Engineer is part of the engine department and stands watches under the supervision of the Chief Engineer or the Second Engineer. Duties include monitoring propulsion systems, power generation and auxiliary equipment, as well as carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance tasks. A valid certificate of competency and certifications in accordance with STCW Regulation III/1 are essential.
The vessel operates in international trade, so proficiency in English is essential for communication on board and with ports. Experience on container ships and knowledge of the automated systems typical of such vessels will be valued.
