Bosun – MV Ocean Explorer – Worldwide

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Bosun to join the crew of the MV Ocean Explorer, a research vessel operating on a worldwide itinerary. This is a permanent contract position with an immediate start date. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading deck operations, maintaining safety standards, and supervising deckhands.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Bosun or in a similar deck leadership role.
• Valid STCW certification (including basic safety training).
• Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
• Ability to work in a team and adapt to varying sea conditions.
• Experience with research vessel operations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all deck activities, including mooring, anchoring, and cargo handling.
• Maintain and inspect deck equipment and safety gear.
• Train and supervise deckhands in daily tasks and emergency procedures.
• Ensure compliance with maritime regulations and company policies.
• Assist the Deck Officer with navigation and watchkeeping duties as required.

Contract Details

• Salary: €3,500 per month, paid in Euros.
• Contract Type: Permanent, with a 6-month probation period.
• Start Date: Immediate (applications close on 15 October 2024).
• Location: Worldwide itinerary, with port calls in Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
• Accommodation and meals provided on board.
