Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Bosun to join the crew of the MV Ocean Explorer, a research vessel operating on a worldwide itinerary. This is a permanent contract position with an immediate start date. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading deck operations, ensuring safety compliance, and maintaining the vessel’s equipment and cleanliness.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Bosun or in a similar deck leadership role.
- Valid STCW certification (including basic safety training).
- Proficiency in English (both written and spoken).
- Ability to work in a team and adapt to varying sea conditions.
- Experience with research vessel operations is preferred but not essential.
Responsibilities
- Supervise deckhands and coordinate daily deck activities.
- Oversee maintenance of deck machinery, ropes, and safety equipment.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Assist with mooring, anchoring, and cargo operations as required.
- Maintain cleanliness and order on deck areas.
