Bunker Operator – Trafigura – Montevideo, Uruguay

Position Overview

Trafigura, one of the world’s largest independent commodity trading houses, is looking for a driven and detail-oriented Bunker Operator to join its physical trading desk in Montevideo, Uruguay.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and execute bunker fuel deliveries to vessels in the port of Montevideo and other Uruguayan ports.
  • Manage relationships with local suppliers, barges, and terminals to ensure timely and quality deliveries.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment with the trading desk.
  • Ensure compliance with all local regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Prepare and review operational documentation, including delivery receipts and invoices.
  • Provide real-time market intelligence and operational feedback to the trading team.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in bunker operations, maritime logistics, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of the local port environment and bunker supply chain in Uruguay.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills in Spanish and English (both written and spoken).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and operational software.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within the port area.
