Position Overview
Trafigura, one of the world’s largest independent commodity trading houses, is looking for a driven and detail-oriented Bunker Operator to join its physical trading desk in Montevideo, Uruguay.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and execute bunker fuel deliveries to vessels in the port of Montevideo and other Uruguayan ports.
- Manage relationships with local suppliers, barges, and terminals to ensure timely and quality deliveries.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment with the trading desk.
- Ensure compliance with all local regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
- Prepare and review operational documentation, including delivery receipts and invoices.
- Provide real-time market intelligence and operational feedback to the trading team.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in bunker operations, maritime logistics, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of the local port environment and bunker supply chain in Uruguay.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills in Spanish and English (both written and spoken).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and operational software.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within the port area.
