Description of the role and key functions: The NCDOT Ferries Division is looking for a Maritime Electrician to join their team. The professional will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of electrical and electromechanical systems on crane barges, tugs, and dredges. They will also supervise the installation, maintenance, and repair of AC and DC generators, distribution panels, lighting circuits, and alarms, as well as detecting and solving electrical problems using appropriate testing equipment.

Requirements and qualifications: Knowledge of electrical systems and maintenance and repair needs. Ability to detect, diagnose, and repair electrical systems. Communication skills to address complex maritime electrical system issues. Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely. High school diploma or GED, and over 4 years of experience in maintenance or repair of maritime electrical and electromechanical systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional details: The job is Monday to Friday with 8-hour shifts. Some tasks may require travel and overnight stays, depending on the location of the vessel. Maintenance and repair tasks are carried out without technical supervision, although for complex electrical problems, there is general supervision from a maintenance supervisor.
